CGEA + MIG Collaboration Awarded $43.4 Million to Reconnect Houston Communities

We’re thrilled to share some incredible news: our public engagement partnership with @migcommunity has been awarded $43.4 million in federal funding!

The U.S. Department of Transportation has selected the City of Houston to receive this major investment through the Reconnecting Communities and Neighborhoods (RCN) Program, supporting the transformative Gulfton and Kashmere Gardens Resilient Sidewalks Project.

This funding will help create safer, more accessible, and more connected neighborhoods—advancing environmental justice, supporting community health, and strengthening resilience for residents who deserve it most. CGEA is proud to have played a role in elevating community voices and shaping a project grounded in equity and lived experience.

This accomplishment reflects the power of authentic engagement, cross-sector collaboration, and planners who work relentlessly to create meaningful change.

Congratulations to everyone involved—and to the communities who will benefit from these long-overdue investments.
